Awards
The Laurel Award can be awarded to active members of Girlguiding who have made an outstanding contribution to Guiding. They must have held multiple roles within their district, division county or beyond, and demonstrated outstanding leadership skills whilst being an effective team member. They should also be a positive and respected role model by their Girlguiding peers and have made a significant contribution to supporting Guiding. Download the nomination form here.
The Queens Guide Award is the highest award in Girlguiding and is centred around personal challenge. It is available for 16-30 year olds to complete and there are five sections: Personal Development, Guiding Challenge, Community Action, Lead the Way and Social Experience.
Providing opportunities for personal growth, achievement and exploration, the Queen's Guide Award is all about challenging yourself in different ways and developing key skills including teamwork, resilience, leadership, communication and independence. Talk to your leader or commissioner if you are interested in completing your Queens Guide Award.
For members aged up to 19, the Guiding Star award can be given for demonstrating great resilience, acting as an exceptional role model or showing initiative when responding to an emergency. The nomination form for this award can be found here.
The Crown Award may be awarded to any exceptional member of Girlguiding North East England between the ages of 5 and 18 who exemplifies the Guide Laws in all aspects of their everyday life. Complete the application form and reference sheets before sending them to the North East England Region office.
The Guiding Hero Award is an award for members or friends of Girlguiding who have done something special. Perhaps they have supported local Guiding, demonstrated fantastic citizenship, made a valuable fundraising effort or volunteered whilst coping with adversity. To nominate a Guiding Hero, download the application form here and send it to your county commissioner for approval.

The Queens Guide Award (QGA)
Long Service Awards recognise commitment to volunteering in Girlguiding and are usually awarded by Commissioners. (no need to nominate!) They are available to celebrate 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 years of volunteering for Girlguiding.
The Guiding Thanks Badge can be given to members and non-members of Girlguiding as a sign of appreciation for their support. Any member of Girlguiding may present a thanks badge after discussion with a leader or commissioner.
The Good Service Brooch
Available for 14-24 year-olds, The Duke of Edinburgh awards have Bronze, Silver and Gold levels to complete. They are made up of four adventure and fun-filled sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills Development and Expedition; with a residential required at the end of the Gold level. Encouraging personal development through community service, teamwork and adventure, the Duke of Edinburgh awards cultivate resilience, confidence and employability, all whilst you build new friendships and have fun! If you would like to work towards your DofE awards, please talk to your leader or commissioner.
Awards are a wonderful way to celebrate the achievements of and show appreciation for the volunteers in your team. There are a range of awards available, some that you can work towards yourself and others that you can be nominated for. Any member of Girlguiding can nominate a fellow volunteer, so discover the awards available and how to make a nomination below!
The Good Service Brooch is awarded for outstanding service to Guiding. It can be awarded by a County Commissioner for service in a County, a Chief Commissioner for service in a Region or Country, and by the Chief Guide for service to Girlguiding as an organisation. Chat to your commissioner if you would like to nominate an outstanding individual!
Silver Fish
As Girlguiding's highest honour, the Silver Fish award is reserved especially for those who have given exceptional service to Girlguiding. Nominees should have:

Held a variety of roles within their district, division, county and beyondÂ

Demonstrated excellent leadership skills and made significant contributions as a team member and leader

Made a significant contribution to supporting, motivating, nurturing and developing guiding for both young members and adults over a range of roles

Be inspiring, motivating and an outstanding and exceptionally high achiever who’s always ready to take on a challenge. They should also be a catalyst in making things happen.Â

Demonstrate a clear understanding of the place of Girlguiding within WAGGGS and the world, sharing this with other members to increase and strengthen Guiding relationships across the global community.
