Rangers is where you can get together with others to have fun, learn more, give back, hang out and just be you!
For 14-18 year olds, Rangers is an
open and relaxed space providing girls with opportunities to make a difference to the things they care about, experience trips both at
home and abroad and earn qualifications, badges and awards.
At Rangers, you can gain practical and valuable skills, harness your independence and do what makes you happy, all whilst making memories that last a lifetime!
Â
Rangers has endless fun activities to experience; from digital design to fashion and connecting with nature to cooking up new recipes, there really is something for everyone! There are also chances to support and inspire others - you could provide a welcoming space for younger members to talk about important matters, or even become a spokesperson for Girlguiding, helping to inform future decisions and advocating for Girlguiding! More adventures with Girlguiding for over 14's
Girlguiding members aged between 14-24 can complete the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) awards.
The DofE programme is recognised by potential employers and universities as a mark of real personal development and achievement.
There are three levels; Bronze, Silver and Gold, with the higher levels demanding more of a time commitment and challenge than the previous level.Â
Each level has four sections to complete: Volunteering, Physical, Skills and an expedition. The Gold level also requires participation in a residential event.Â
Young leaders are those aged 14-17 who want to grow their skills and become part of a team of volunteers in Rainbows, Brownies or Guides. This can also be used to complete the volunteering section of the Duke of Edinburgh awards.
Â
Young leaders can push themselves further with the Young Leader Development Programme (YLDP); a flexible and personalised leadership qualification made up of 12 modules that empower Young Leaders to become the leader they want to be. Â
The Queen's Guide Award is the highest award you can earn in Girlguiding. It is open to those aged between 16-30. A fantastic achievement, it demonstrates to potential employers and further education organisations that you've challenged yourself and achieved goals in lots of different ways.
The Queen's Guide Award is a three-year challenge with five sections: Personal Development, Guiding Challenge, Community Action, Lead the Way and Social Experience. These sections provide opportunities to develop your skills, contribute to projects in Girlguiding, take part in a residential, expand your network and deliver a community project.
Members of the Youth Network contribute to making our region youth-led and making sure their voices (and their peers) are heard.Â
Amplify makes sure that girls’ voices are heard and that they are consulted at the highest levels of Girlguiding.
Advocates speak out on the issues that matter to girls and young women and push for meaningful change through meeting politicians and the media.
Pioneer is the adventure and international panel. They ensure girls' voices are at the heart of Girlguiding's strategy for adventure.
National opprtunities are advertised on the Girlguiding website. The Advocate panel recruits 16-25 year olds and both the Amplify and Pioneer panels recruit 12 to 18 year olds.
Peer Eductators are aged between 14- 25. They receive training to deliver sessions to Brownies, Guides and Rangers on the following topics.
Think Resilient -Â aims to improve mental well- being by sharing tools and skills.
Breaking Free -Â provides the tools to challenge gender stereotypes.
Safe the World - helps members make a stand for safety.
There are 7 challenges to complete and each challenge covers a different area of how to plan and run a residential event.
The Lead Away Permit is for Rangers and Young Leaders to develop the skills and knowledge needed to take themselves and a small group of peers away for 2 or more nights.
