WYNCHES Activity Bookings IMPORTANT INFORMATION & CONDITIONS The WYNCHES Management Committee welcomes you to our County House and Camp Site. For your visit to be as enjoyable as possible we want to draw your attention to some important information and conditions. Access across the site The drive through the site has speed bumps, and when children are on site the speed limit is 5mph. The drive is also access for private housing at the top of the site. Residents do abide by the speed limit, but it is difficult to monitor all traffic, therefore please be aware of the dangers of crossing the track especially at night. Animals No pets are allowed on site except Assistance Dogs. Dogs must not be kept in a vehicle and let out for exercise. Any activities which require animals to be brought on site must be pre-arranged and agreed on booking. Damage and Breakages We understand that accidents do happen but please report any damage or breakages to the warden. Be aware we may ask you to pay for damages dependent upon the nature. For unreported breakages or damage which have clearly occurred during your visit you will be invoiced accordingly. Fire Precautions, Campfires and Open fires Smoking or vaping is not allowed in any building. When using the Campfire circle please use the large wood from the wood pile. Campfires must be put out by 12 midnight and there must always be plenty of buckets of water available by the Campfire. No turf cutting for fire lighting is allowed unless agreed by the Camp Site Warden prior to arrival. A BBQ may be used but you must ensure it is off the grass. All other open fires must be built off the floor – a limited number of metal milk crates and bricks are stored behind the toilet blocks to enable you to raise your fire. There must always be buckets of water available by any BBQ or open fire. Cold ashes may be scattered around the edges of the field where they cannot be seen. Ashes must not include part burnt pieces of wood or be smoking. All evidence of food, paper, silver foil etc must be removed from the ashes and disposed of in the general waste. Fireworks The setting off of fireworks must be agreed in advance with the booking secretary but in most cases, it will be discouraged. First Aid Each group must provide their own first aid kit. All significant accidents should be reported to the Warden. This is so the Committee can instigate any necessary changes in practice and risk assessment for future users. Games & Equipment We have the various games/equipment available for you to use including Giant Connect 4, Giant Jenga, Outdoor darts and a parachute these can be found in the garden store at the back of the House fire escape steps. Pond dipping equipment can be found under the bench seats by the pond. Other users of the site Please be aware there will often be other users on the site. We ask you to respect each other and work together when planning things like wide games, using campfire circle. Property and Equipment The security of personal and group property anywhere on the site is the responsibility of the group/owner. The WYNCHES committee does not accept any responsibility for loss of or damage to such property but recommends that it is adequately insured. Risk Assessments We can supply generic risk assessments for the site and activities we offer. It is your responsibility to provide your own unit risk assessment and amend the generic risk assessments according to the needs of your group. It is your responsibility to complete a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) for any young member or volunteer who may need help to evacuate a building in the event of an emergency. Security 24/7 CCTV is in operation in some areas of the site. Should you feel there are strangers or trespassers on site contact the local police 101 or if more urgent 999. Please report any such incidents to the warden at the next most appropriate opportunity. Suggestions & Complaints If you have any complaints or suggestions for improvement please tell the warden, or alternatively the booking secretary. We want the site to be as good as it can be, and for you to want to return again in the future. Vehicles and Parking Unless temporarily parked for loading or unloading people or equipment, all vehicles must be parked in the car park at the top of the site. This is to keep access free for emergency vehicles. Please park sensibly to enable as many cars as possible to park. The only cars permitted to park by the house are those with blue disabled badges. No vehicle must cross the cattle grid at the top of the site – this is private property. At no time should the drive be blocked by a vehicle or equipment, as this will not only cause inconvenience to other users but also damages relationships with our neighbours. No vehicles are allowed on the grass at any time unless agreed by the camp site warden. Please ensure if you have coaches coming to the site, they do not block the entrance – there is a turning circle available for coaches to use at the top of the drive. Walls & boundaries Do not cross the cattle grid near the house or any of the boundary walls as they all lead to private property. Do not climb or remove stone from the walls. Wardens We have a rota of wardens who will meet you on arrival and departure. Prior to arrival the warden will contact you to discuss your arrival time. Our wardens are all volunteers, some of whom work, so it is important that you arrive/depart at the times arranged. Waste There are large industrial waste bins near the house (for house users), and at the bottom end of the site (for campers). Please do not leave bags of rubbish at the side of the bin – if the bin is full, you can use the other bin, failing that you must be prepared to take rubbish home with you. Unfortunately, we no longer have a collection for recyclable material. Please sort your recycling and ideally take it home with you. Woodpiles The woodpiles should be kept tidy, and any unused wood must be returned to the woodpile. Appropriate footwear and gloves should be worn when accessing the woodpiles as although we try to remove nails etc. this cannot be guaranteed. Wood must not be removed from any trees.
