Mailchimp 9th May 2026: Vacancy Broadcast!

This special edition is to let you know of all (and any) roles and jobs that need filling in order to make your county work well. Whether it is in supporting all our adult volunteers, training up new leaders and young leaders and above all to nurture, develop and provide safe spaces for all our young members to flourish and have fun! You can all help by:

1) Reading this to the end!

2) Share it with your leadership teams, young leaders, and others who might not yet be members but who might just need a nudge

If any of the roles, requests, jobs etc. below catch your eye and you think you could help or want to find out a bit more, then please email our county office address: wynoffice@gmail.com and we will get back to you.

If there are any roles, jobs, requests which are oversubscribed (wouldn’t that be amazing?) there will be a selection process.

County Trustee

We are looking for people to become Trustees for the county - someone currently a leader in a county unit, someone aged 18–30 and someone external to Guiding.

An awareness session will be held for those looking into Trusteeship.

County Commissioner/Deputy County Commissioner

Someone who feels they could be part of a small team to:

- Manage, develop and nurture this amazing county in all aspects of girl experience

- Support advisors and coordinators who have specific specialities and experience

- Support division commissioners

- Manage complaints, safeguarding and compliance

- Represent the County at a regional North East England level

These roles sound massive but they are awesome and provide a real good feeling of a special and worthwhile contribution.

County Treasurer

Have you got a head for figures and want to support our county finances; help budget for activities, events and trainings; and assist in financially managing WYNCHES? Please email the office with your interest at the address above.

Commissioner

If you have ever wondered what a commissioner does and enjoy working with adult volunteers as well as supporting girl events, then take the next step and find out more. You could even ask your current Division/District Commissioners about the role!

Adventure

We have recently had to cancel the Adventure Days due to insufficient volunteers to run the event -

To plan for the future, we need volunteers right across the county to really think outside the box as to how we can promote activities like archery, walking and water activities, as well as providing some structured opportunities for training volunteers who want to take their girls on holiday, camps, internationals, DofE etc.

So, we are looking for an Adventure Representative from each division to form a team who will ensure all things adventure are communicated between county and volunteers at the front edge of Guiding and vice versa. You don’t need to be an expert in anything adventurous, you just need to have enthusiasm, good communication skills, inspiration and of course, fun!

Archery

We have a fantastic archery team but a couple more instructors would make a big difference to their committed time and would enable more groups to experience this great activity. Training is funded in return for running sessions based at WYNCHES. Watch out for the already booked training details in this Monday's mailing!

Mentors

We have a number of very good and willing mentors who support Leaders in Training and Young Leaders, but there is always room for more.

We also need mentors to support volunteers who are embarking on the Going Away Scheme Qualification. West Yorkshire North currently have no qualified walking people and have needed to bring such volunteers from out of county for DofE expeditions.

We need volunteers qualified in the Walking Scheme or willing to undertake the walking qualification scheme. Are you interested? If so, please email the office on the email address above.

WYNCHES
W
orking parties will resume on September 12th/13th and October 10th/11th.

Tuesday Troubleshooters will still be running throughout.
